Why VotesorSchools?

VotesforSchools provides weekly resources for teachers to prompt impartial discussion on a challenging current issue. All of our lessons help develop pupils' oracy skills and are mapped to the SMSC, British Values and Prevent curriculum criteria in their entirety. Alongside our weekly resources, we also provide further content that helps you meet much of the PSHE and RSE curriculum aims. You can find out more about the programme here. To get a feel for our lessons, we have provided some recent examples for you to trial in your school.

Our schools say

"It meets many curriculum requirements, SMSC themes, British values, and general citizenship. The children look forward to the sessions and make really informed decisions about their votes."

Harden Primary School

Our schools say

"Your resources have just saved me about 10 hours of PSHE planning – keep up the great work."

Crestwood School

Our schools say

"VotesforSchools has been a great success as part of the weekly form time -focusing on current affairs and allowing pupils to debate key topics in a safe learning environment."

Eden Boys School

Our schools say

"Pupils have an age-appropriate understanding of democracy. This is achieved through elections for class council members but also through the ‘VotesforSchools’ programme...This means that pupils learn how to articulate their own opinion but also understand the importance of listening to what someone else has to say."

Ofsted 2019, Packmoor Primary School Report

Our schools say

"Leaders ensure that pupils develop an understanding of democracy, respect and other modern British values. Pupils regularly vote on different themes to express an opinion."
